Make them say it

Type one sentence and pick who says it. You get an MP3 you can play or keep.

Making them sound different

Put little stage directions in square brackets and the voice acts them out. You can write almost anything short; these are good ones to start with. Tap one to add it to your sentence.

Put two together with a comma: [very drunk, slurring] or [whispering, giggling].

Writing tips

• WRITE IN CAPITALS to make them shout a word.
• Use three dots... to make them trail off.
• Short sentences work best. Spock does not do waffle.
• If it sounds odd, just try again: every take comes out a little different.

The sound effects

The farewell sketch isn't just voices. Three tricks make it sound like a radio play:

• Background beds: a quiet pub or office murmuring away under a whole scene.
• Sounds between lines: a clink, a ping or a rimshot dropped into a gap.
• Sounds under a line: someone slurping coffee while they talk.
